Declamation Speech
More students gave speeches today, demonstrating to the class good gesturing techniques. The Eyes Have It, And They're All On You...and Your Gestures, is a descriptive and useful web article about the importance of gesturing. Ultimately, our goal is make gesturing natural, poignant, and powerful. Lest any of my students think they are alone in their frustration while practicing, watch this clip from the 1998 movie Elizabeth. Here Queen Elizabeth addresses rival clergy on a unified Church of England.
